Otoplastics 3D production

Otoplastics are earplugs that are carefully customised to the wearer for a unique fit. They are extremely COMFORTABLE TO WEAR, which ensures happy employees. Giving your employees otoplastics shows that you care about their well-being. It can even increase their PRODUCTIVITY by as much as 3%.

Customised otoplastics

We fabricate otoplastics in our IN-HOUSE LABORATORY using special 3D technologies to ensure the perfect fit. This approach contrasts with models that are produced by hand. 3D technologies largely eliminate the risk of human error in the most essential part of the production process – mould making. We use a special 3D SCAN TECHNOLOGY to make the perfect mould. We then ‘print’ the final product on a 3D printer.

Certification

At Ediego, we are very pleased to have SUCCESSFULLY been awarded certification, and you can order otoplastics from us – hard or soft – with complete peace of mind.
If you decide to purchase otoplastics from Ediego, you’ll find the certification mark on every product.
All of our products satisfy legal CE standards, including EN 352-2:2002 and Regulation (EU) 2016/425 of the European Parliament and of the Council.

Need a leak test?

The cartilage in our ears means that things are constantly changing – in fact, the cartilage never stops changing, all through our lives. That’s why it’s so important to check otoplastics to ensure that they still fit the ear properly. We call this check a leak test.
If otoplastics start to leak, they should be replaced. On average, an employee can continue to use their otoplastics for four years. This is an average – some users experience leaks after just a year, while others might not notice anything for seven.

The legal framework around otoplastics

As you are probably aware, the legislation covering personal protective equipment and ear protection in particular has been amended. The amendment puts ear protection in the highest category of safety. This is a recognition on the part of the European Parliament of the importance of using ear protection. It is defined in Regulation (EU) 2016/425 of the Parliament and of the Council. The amendment means that all previous directives no longer apply.
In practical terms, this means that every customised ear protector must be supplied with a leak test and that these ear protectors must be checked for leaks on an annual basis if the level of noise is high enough that wearing ear protection is compulsory. Without this new certification, ear protection is invalid. This law entered into effect on 21 April 2018.
